First of all, Pastor Jeremiah Wright told the truth. A lot of people don’t want to hear the truth. The right wing cynics on fox, msnbc and cnn all have devoted far more time to this incident than needed to be devoted to it.

There are many Americans who feel that 9-11 was an example of “the chickens coming home to roost!!” White people have not had the degrading feeling of being stopped just because you are black, or having a judge decide a case in favor of the white participant, rather than the black participant, while stating in open court that he had a hard time making a decision. If the decision was that hard, there was reasonable doubt.

Black people in America have had to endure a multitude of injustices. Preachers, in the black church, have made it a habit to preach sermons which were powerful and uplifting. Pastor Wright is such a man. He says what a lot of black people are thinking, and just look at how white folks and other Americans deal with 9-11. That was a tragic day in our history. But do you think the Japanese thought that it in any way compared to Hiroshima or Nagasaki? How about the Holocaust? Do you think that our Jewish sisters and brothers, in their private rooms, think 9-11 compared to that event? How about Iraqi citizens? They have lost thousands of lives, in an invasion initiated by the USA, which some of them have described as a terrositic act, and in an invasion that never should have taken place. We have killed well over 7 thousand Iraqi citizens, twice as many as were killed on 9-11 in the trade towers.

The USA has routinely done questionable things to other nations. Did we really think that no one would ever retaliate? I believe it would be stupidity to think that.

If history has taught us anything, it’s taught us that great powers, great civilizations can be felled. Pastor Wright was totally on point.

All of this being said, then, we must stop trying to bring Senator Obama to task. What Pastor Wright said had nothing to do with Sen. Obama. We must let this subject alone, unless we are willing to have truthful, honest and straight-forward discussions. And, we must all be willing to work toward the goal of totally eliminating the spectre of racism in the United States of America.
